Machrou Tounes blames ISIE for election offences noted

The Machrou Tounes movement has blamed the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) for the “serious offences reported” during the voting process for the municipal elections Sunday.

Several irregularities took place at the sight of members of the regional authorities, Machrou Tounes regretted in a statement.

These electoral offences, committed in particular by the two major parties in power, have involved non-respect of electoral silence as well as attempts to influence and buy voters, the statement added.

Such irregularities reflect the ISIE’s inability to successfully run the elections based on errors in voter registers, the delay in opening polling stations and contradictory decisions between the regional authorities regarding some measures, which has generated tension in many stations and forced to postpone the vote in some others.
