Maghzaoui Stands with Palestinian Resistance, Urges Law Against Normalization, Proposes Election Delay

Gabes, Tunisia – Secretary-General of the People's Movement, Zouhair Al-Maghzaoui, has voiced strong support for the Palestinian resistance and called for the criminalization of normalization with Israel. His statements, made in Gabes, reflect the movement's stance on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and its wider implications.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, who spoke to journalists during a meeting with the movement's advocates in Gabes, the current battle in Gaza is significant and demands global involvement. He lauded the resilience of the Gazan people and their determination to reclaim their lands. Maghzaoui sees this conflict as a turning point that could alter the global order, emphasizing the Palestinian resistance as a frontline defense against hegemony.

He highlighted the importance of the Gaza battle for all Muslims and advocates for freedom worldwide. Maghzaoui's emphasis was on supporting the Gazan people and their resistance, along with the need to criminalize any normalization of relations with Israel. He also stressed the necessity for regimes to open their crossings to aid Gaza.

Regarding the draft law criminalizing normalization with Israel, Maghzaoui criticized the Tunisian Assembly of People's Representatives for violating its own laws and internal regulations. He accused the parliament Speaker of refusing to pass the law and a minority of MPs of trying to impose their views on the majority. He referenced the President of the Republic's statement on the prerogatives of the House in this matter.

Finally, Maghzaoui called for the postponement of local council elections in Tunisia, citing the current situation in both Tunisia and Gaza. He expressed concern that these events could significantly affect Tunisian citizens' participation in the elections.
