Major Projects Committee Approves Key Developments in Sfax and Mezzouna

El kasbah: The Major Projects Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, has given the green light for several significant projects aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and reviving industrial activities in Tunisia. The committee, meeting for the sixth time, approved the immediate commencement of reconstruction efforts for the main building of Hedi Chaker University Hospital in Sfax, the development of Bir Ali Ben Khalifa Hospital in the Sfax Governorate, and the expedited completion of the Class B Regional Hospital in Thala, Kasserine Governorate. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the committee also decided to incorporate a new project in Mezzouna, Sidi Bouzid Governorate, into the list of major initiatives. This project entails the establishment of a plastic bag manufacturing and printing unit, alongside a fertilizer packaging unit. The reopening of the Mezzouna industrial complex is expected to facilitate local production of plastic bags, reducing reliance on imports and b olstering the local industrial sector by minimizing supply times and import volumes. This aligns with the state's strategy to protect the national economy and direct production to fulfill the needs of various Tunisian industrial enterprises. The project is anticipated to stimulate economic activity in Mezzouna and create sustainable development projects, generating long-term employment opportunities for young people in the region and its environs. Prime Minister Zenzri emphasized the urgency of accelerating all public projects across the country and completing them within the specified timelines. She highlighted these projects as essential for achieving balanced comprehensive development, promoting investment, economic growth, and employment, in line with President Kais Saied's vision. At the conclusion of the meeting, Zenzri urged all officials in ministries, public structures, and governorates to overcome challenges and intensify efforts to ensure timely and quality completion of projects. Health Minister Mustapha Ferjani provided updates on the healthcare infrastructure projects in Sfax and Kasserine, while Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, presented insights on the Mezzouna industrial complex project.
