Major UK tour operators to return to Tunisia, soon (Jhianoui)

Major UK tour operators including Thomas Cook, will return to Tunisia in February, Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui announced on Friday.

Speaking after a meeting with Minister of State for Security at the Home Office Ben Wallace, Jhinaoui explained that UK tour operators have affirmed their willingness to re-include Tunisia in the upcoming sightseeing tours.

In this respect, he commended the United Kingdom’s decision to lift the travel ban to Tunisia.

Wallace has toured several places where he noted the reinforced security measures around hot spots and tourist areas as preparations for the tourists’ coming in the best conditions, Jhinaoui pointed out.

The UK is one of the first countries that have supported Tunisia after the terrorist attacks by funding several training sessions and the equipment acquisition, he added.

Both ministers further discussed co-operation projects capable of strengthening bilateral relations in several sectors including mainly the economic sector.

I turn, Wallace who is currently in a three-day visit to Tunisia commended the level of partnership relations between both countries in the security field, highlighting the efforts made to reach a solution for the crisis in Libya.

He further emphasised the two countries’ determination to end the terrorist threat of individuals aiming to destroy our economies, lives and our countries’ reputations, he indicated.

According to him, Tunisia will not only be a destination for holidays but also for trade.

The travel ban to Tunisia has been lifted by the UK since July 2017.
