Mali Strongly Condemns ‘Cowardly and Barbaric Attack’ against Moroccan Commercial Convoy in Didieni Commune (Statement)

In a statement issued after the audience granted on Monday in Bamako by Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, to the Moroccan ambassador to Mali and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Hassan Naciri, the Malian FM, “on behalf of the President of the Transition, Head of State, H.E. Colonel Assimi Goita and the government, strongly condemned the cowardly and barbaric attack perpetrated by unidentified armed individuals on September 11, 2021 against a Moroccan commercial convoy in the town of Didieni, in the region of Kayes, resulting in the loss of human life, including two Moroccan nationals, and in injuries”.

In this painful circumstance, the Malian minister “expressed, on behalf of the President of the transition and the government, all the compassion and solidarity of Mali with the government and the brotherly people of Morocco,” added the statement received by MAP.

He also offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

The Malian minister, in this regard, informed the Moroccan ambassador that since the attack, the ministries in charge of security, defense and health have all taken appropriate measures, the statement added, noting that Diop “expressed the commitment of the Malian authorities to do everything possible to find the culprits and bring them to justiceā€.
