Manouba: 3 people held in custody for carrying weapon without license, two hunting rifles seized

Three people were taken into custody for carrying a weapon without a license and two hunting rifles were seized by the judicial police of the Manouba police district, security sources told TAP on Sunday.

One of the suspects injured with buckshot was reported to the police by the medical officer of the Mohamed Kassab Orthopedic Institute, in Manouba, where he was transferred from the Tebourba Local Hospital.

The man showed up at Tebourba hospital under a false identity for an “accidental” injury. X-rays performed at the Kassab Institute showed that the injuries were due to buckshot.

When questioned by the police, the man admitted that he injured his leg in a hunting party in the mountain of Grombalia (Nabeul governorate) where he hid the rifle.

After undergoing surgery, he was taken to the scene where the police found two rifles buried underground and not one as he had claimed.

The weapons without licence had been delivered to him by two individuals. Once arrested, the latter said they bought the rifles after the Revolution.

The three suspects were imprisoned.
