Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, on Thursday, made an inspection visit of the vaccination campaign in the rural areas of Sejnan and Jomin in Bizerte, where he stressed the need to step up the vaccination pace.
He called to give priority to mobile vaccination campaigns in villages and remote areas, and to use primary health centres and clinics in this campaign.
Mechichi told reporters that «Tunisia is leading a battle against the pandemic,» reiterating his deep conviction that the country will be victorious, thanks to what he described as positive solidarity and the bilateral interaction of civil society and state structures in all regions.
The PM underlined the importance of mobile teams and mobile health centres in increasing the vaccination rate and their role in supporting the vaccination campaign, praising the efforts of medics, paramedics, and civil society to overcome the spread of the pandemic.
Mechichi was accompanied by Chair of the Local Committee for Disaster Management and Relief, Governor Mohamed Koueider, and representatives of local authorities and interdependent structures concerned.
He was briefed on the progress of the work of mobile health teams, whose work began last weekend at the local centre of the delegation of Joumine, as well as at the local centre of the «October 15» high school in the delegation of Sejnan, with the aim of vaccinating about 6,000 people, aged over 50 years.
The PM was informed of indicators on the evolution of the general epidemiological situation in the region and the progress of the implementation of the national and local decisions.
He also took note of all the preventive and awareness measures taken by the Committee and the components of the civil society, to reduce the spread of the virus.
Delegations classified as «red» in terms of virus propagation decreased from 11 to 7 during the last two weeks.
The rate of infections in the governorate has also decreased to 618 per 100,000 inhabitants, while the case tally in the region reached 20,901, including 16,539 recoveries and 813 fatalities.
Bizerte comprises 7 vaccination centres, including regional, local and mobile, centres in the delegations of North Bizerte, Menzel Bourguiba, Ras Jebel, Mater, Joumine, Sejnane and Ghazala.
