Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi is paying a visit to Geneva (Switzerland) on June 8-9, to meet with World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a bid to speed up the import of COVID-19 vaccines as part of the Covax initiative.
In 2021, Tunisia is expected to take delivery of 4.3 million jab doses as part of Covax, which will help inoculate 20% of the Tunisian population. Yet, only 600,000 Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines had been received, according to an earlier statement by Central Pharmacy Director General Bechir Yermani.
Mechichi will also meet with International Labour Organisation (ILO) Guy Ryder and the President of the World Trade Organisation as well as other personalities, according to a Prime Ministry press release Tuesday.
