Mediterranean Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry opens in Sfax

The 12th edition of the Mediterranean Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry was inaugurated Wednesday in Sfax.

One hundred and five exhibitors from Saudi Arabia, India, Indonesia, France, Italy, Syria, Turkey, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tunisia are participating in this five-day event.

Sales exhibitions of agricultural products (organic farming, cereals, nurseries, rabbit and quail breeding, etc) top the agenda along with olive oil tasting sessions as well as cooking and best breeder competitions.

High-performance agricultural equipment will be put on display; a scientific meeting on the exportation of agricultural products and foodstuffs will also be held on the fringes on the fair in addition to workshops dedicated to farming sector support and the financing of innovative projects.

Secretary of State for Water Resources Abdallah Rabhi said the fair is an opportunity to shed light on the incentives spelled out in the new piece of legislation on agricultural investment.

The sector posted a 3% growth rate, in spite of existing challenges, he further said.
