(TAP)- Twelve craftspeople from 6 Tunisian regions and a team from the Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises “CONECT”, will make an economic and entrepreneurial trip to Trapani, Italy, from October 3 to 6. They will attend a series of professional meetings, training workshops and exchange of expertise in art and craft techniques with their Italian counterparts.
The goal of the visit is to promote the common archaeological heritage as well as develop integrated cross-border circuits of sustainable cultural tourism through the creation of a specific Label “Meditheatres”, CONECT said in a statement Friday.
An alliance between Tunisian and Italian craftsmen would be built in a bid to enter new tourism markets.
This initiative is part of the “Médithéâtres” project launched in partnership with CONECT so as to promote the creation of start-ups specialising in the construction of sets and costumes, provide training activities for young professionals in the field of art and manage craft techniques through the cross-border transfer of know-how.
The tourism offer of Sicily and Tunisia will also be implemented through the creation and promotion of an integrated thematic tourism circuit, mainly linked to opera and symphonic music.
The twelve Tunisian craftspeople will visit Italy, 60% of whom are women (60%), were selected after a call for applications announced in July 2022 during which more than 50 candidates submitted applications.
The selected candidates had a training and an incubation course which sought to develop skills and ease access to new markets.
