Tunis: The Major Projects Committee, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, convened to assess the progress of two significant initiatives: the reconstruction of the Olympic Stadium in El Menzah and the Digital City in Ennahli, Ariana Governorate.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, during the meeting, the committee resolved to assign technical support for the Olympic Stadium's reconstruction to a multidisciplinary consultancy firm. They underscored the importance of maintaining quality control throughout all phases of the project to ensure completion under optimal conditions and within the designated timelines.

The committee also made decisions regarding the Digital City in Ennahli, opting to commence immediately with site preparation, network connections, and the installation of technical components. The Olympic Stadium's reconstruction is slated to begin in 2026, following a memorandum of understanding with Chinese partners. This agreement involves a comprehensive overhaul of the stadium, integrating cutting-edge technology while preserving its historic architectural essence, a vital part of Tunisia's heritage.

The reconstruction project encompasses the enhancement of all stadium elements with modern equipment, including tracks, stands, and electronic scoreboards, as part of a broader plan to upgrade the entire Olympic district in El Menzah and implement necessary reforms. During the meeting, detailed reports on the stadium project's technical progress and procedures were presented by both the Minister of Public Works and Housing and the Minister of Youth and Sports.

The committee also evaluated the advancements of the Digital City in Ennahli, which aims to bolster the 'Tunisia Smart Technology Parks' initiative by establishing fully equipped technological spaces in the Ennahli area of Ariana Governorate. This project aligns with Tunisia's aspirations to emerge as a promising technological hub through the development of the smart services sector. The Minister of Communication Technologies provided a comprehensive briefing on this initiative.

The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of accelerating the implementation of these two major projects, highlighting the necessity of establishing robust monitoring and on-site supervision mechanisms to ensure timely completion and adherence to high-quality standards.
