Accra: The Methodist Church Ghana has welcomed nine new Diocesan Lay Chairmen to serve various Dioceses within the Church. These individuals have been called to leadership with the emphasis on being servant leaders.
According to Ghana News Agency, the newly inducted Lay Chairmen include Sis. Dr. Monica Dede T. A. Yawson of Cape Coast Diocese, Sis. Henrietta Atta Angmor of Accra Diocese, Bro. Justice Amoh of Sekondi Diocese, Bro. Seth Oduro Arthur of Winneba Diocese, and Bro. Samuel Kwesi Appah Peniel of Koforidua Diocese. Additional chairmen are Bro. Frank Inkum Eyiah of Akyem Oda Diocese, Bro. Rexford R. Amponsah of Tema Diocese, Bro. Evang. Edward Nyarko Hanson of Nkawkaw Diocese, and Bro. Castro Kwabena Owusu Manu of Ho Diocese.
These leaders from the Southern Sector of the Church are tasked with assisting the Diocesan Bishops in leading their respective dioceses. Their responsibilities include ensuring the implementation of the Church’s decisions, serving as members of the Diocesan Executive, cooperating with Bishops, supporting Church initiatives, and upholding the Church’s Constitution.
The Most Reverend Professor J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, emphasized the significant responsibility placed upon the new Lay Chairmen. He highlighted the role as both a privilege and an opportunity to fulfill the Lord’s will, warning against allowing it to be compromised by human weaknesses.
The Presiding Bishop encouraged the congregation to honor and support the Lay Chairmen in their roles as servants of Christ. He stressed the importance of the collaboration between Lay Chairmen and Clergy in carrying out the Ministry’s tasks, acknowledging the unique gifts and talents each brings to the Church’s work.
The Most Reverend Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu noted that the appointed Lay Chairmen possess vast experience across various fields such as administration, law, education, and construction, which they are expected to apply in their service to the Church to further its mission.
The Most Reverend Dr. Paul Boafo, the immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Church, offered prayers for the new leaders, expressing hope that their leadership will yield enduring fruit to the glory of God.
