Microfinance Cross-Border Forum: MEDSt@rts project takes centre stage

MEDSt@rts project was at the centre of the 2nd Microfinance Cross-Border Forum held Thursday by the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry (French: CCIS). . It is funded by ENI CBC Med -the largest cross-border cooperation (CBC) initiative implemented by the EU under the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI).

The creation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Mediterranean showed significant improvement, it emerges from a review presented during this event.

CCIS Director General Ikram Makni said 9 young entrepreneurs received funding as part of MEDSt@rts so as to launch their projects in different sectors, namely in innovative technologies, handicrafts, cultural development and services.

A donation of 10,000 euros (32,000 dinars) was awarded to each recipient as part of this project which seeks to ease access to funding for young entrepreneurs, Makni added. Fifteen entrepreneurs from Sfax, Médenine, Béja and Tataouine were selected.

The cross-border project, which cost amounts to 2.8 billion euros, targets five countries, namely Tunisia, Italy, Lebanon, Greece and Palestine.
