Defence Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi had a meeting with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bawardi, during his visit to the UAE to participate in the Dubai Airshow 2017, held on November 12-16.

The meeting offered the occasion to look at means to reinforce bilateral military co-operation in matters of training and sharing information to improve the two countries’ operational capacities, according to a Defence Ministry press release Wednesday.

The meeting also provided the opportunity to point out the need to implement the military agreements concluded in 2011 between the two countries.

Zbidi underscored during the meeting the importance attached by Tunisia to the diversification of its partners in matters of military co-operation, voicing wish that the UAE will be its leading partner.

The minister had also a talk with Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces on the fringes of his participation in the airshow, during which means to boost military co-operation between the two countries were reviewed, the press release added.

Besides, he had a set of meetings with several heads of delegations to the show and representatives of enterprises specialised in aeronautical maintenance participating in the airshow.
