Minister Agbodza Commissions Nurses’ Quarters at Adaklu Wumenu


Adaklu: A three-unit nurses’ quarters was commissioned and handed over to the Adaklu Wumenu Health Centre in Adaklu. The project, valued at GHC670,000, was funded by Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, utilizing his share of the MP Common Fund along with additional resources.



According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agbodza, during the ceremony, highlighted that the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting nurses and health workers. He mentioned that the quarters would help distinguish clinical areas from non-clinical spaces, thus facilitating the work of the nurses. The Minister also emphasized that this initiative would address the accommodation challenges faced by the health centre staff.



Mr. Agbodza, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, assured that all health facilities in the district would receive appropriate accommodation for their employees. He called upon local chiefs and landowners to provide land for similar projects. He further discussed the importance of good roads for healthcare delivery and mentioned ongoing plans to enhance the road infrastructure in the area.



The Minister announced that the National Health Insurance Authority would soon commence operations within the district to improve healthcare services, with a new office already secured for this purpose. He commended the dedication of health workers in remote district areas and promised continued support. He urged the nurses to maintain the facility to extend its lifespan.



Mr. Matthew Adams Ayamba, Adaklu District Director of Health, upon receiving the building’s keys, acknowledged Mr. Agbodza’s significant contributions, which include numerous health facilities in the district. He praised the Minister’s commitment to health workers, describing it as laudable and inspiring.



Togbe Sekpe III, Chief of the community, lauded Mr. Agbodza as a man of action who delivers on his promises. He expressed gratitude for the permanent structure provided for the health centre and accommodation for the nurses. Meanwhile, Madam Philipa Agbozo, in charge of the health centre, assured that the facility would be well-maintained and encouraged the community to utilize the health services, particularly advising expectant mothers to seek timely medical attention.
