Minister in charge of Relations with Constitutional Authorities receives UNICEF representative for Near East and North Africa

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative for the Near East and North Africa Region, Geert Cappelaere voiced wish on Friday to seize the opportunity to consider the draft organic law on the higher human rights authority within the House of Peoples Representatives to strengthen Tunisia’s gains in this area.

Received by Minister in Charge of Relations with Constitutional Authorities and Civil Society, Mehdi Ben Gharbia, Cappelaere commended the efforts made by Tunisia to strengthen its mechanism for the effective protection of children’s rights through reforms and programmes carried out and compliance with its international commitments in this area.

On this occasion, the Minister reiterated Tunisia’s firm will to strengthen its achievements in the protection of the children’s rights, indicating that the country has submitted its periodic report on the follow-up of the international convention for the protection of children’s rights to be discussed in Geneva in 2019 before the UN Committee on Children’s rights.

The talk which is part of strengthening partnership between Tunisia and UNICEF, was attended by representative of the organisation in Tunisia, Lila Piters.
