Sekondi: Mr. Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has called on citizens to utilize the inaugural National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving service as an opportunity to express gratitude to God and recommit themselves to the principles that fortify nations.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Nelson emphasized the need for citizens to prioritize values such as truth, peace, and service over convenience, provocation, and selfish ambitions, respectively, as a means to enhance national prosperity. He made these remarks during the event organized by the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan, and Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assemblies in Sekondi.
The service, themed 'Reflect, Reset and Renew for National Prosperity,' was an appeal to return to fundamental values like integrity, discipline, patriotism, and love for one another and Ghana. Mr. Nelson asserted that the day was not only about offering thanks but also about reflecting on the nation's journey and seeking divine guidance for the future.
This collective expression of faith underscored its importance as a pillar of the country's freedom and progress, Mr. Nelson stated, urging continued prayers for leaders to ensure a peaceful and respectful life for all citizens.
During the service, prayers were offered for the nation, its leaders, and citizens, accompanied by thanksgiving worship and praises for God's peace, protection, and unity across the country. The event saw participation from Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives, members of the clergy, security personnel, and the public, all gathered to worship, pray, and give thanks.
