Ministerial delegation assesses damage caused by rains in Gabes

A ministerial delegation composed of Minister of Social Affairs Mohamed Trabelsi, Minister of Public Works, Housing and Territorial Development Mohamed Salah Arfaoui and Minister of State Property and Land Affairs Mabrouk Korchid and Secretary of State for Water Resources and Fisheries Abdallah Rabhi, on Sunday, visited areas affected in the governorate of Gabes, following the latest rains recorded in the region.

Trabelsi said the delegation came to express its condolences to the martyrs of the last floods who lost their lives in the performance of their duty, stressing that Tunisia does not forget its martyrs and will provide the necessary support to their families through providing care to their children by giving them the assistance they need and employing a member of each family.

The damage caused by the floods has been identified, said Rabhi, and the damage to the water conservation works and public irrigated areas will be repaired on instruction from the Prime Minister, he added.

The ministerial delegation offered its condolences to the families of the martyrs of the floods and took note of their social situation.

The martyrs are delegate of New Matmata Mohsen Ben Assi, Chief the National Guard district in this delegation Mehdi Haddad, Ali Kawakeb, forest ranger in the region of Ouyoun Zarkine, Abdelmajid El Ferjani STEG employee from ” El Hmila” in Mareth and Samir Bedoui from the region of Sidi Touati in Mareth.

The delegation also inquired about the search operations of the delegate of New Matmata Mohsen Ben Assi, who was reported missing after the flood of the wadi “Lafam” since November 11 and the means provided for this operation.

During this visit, the delegation also inspected in the Eski region in Mareth and Dkhilet Toujane in Toujane the great damage caused by bad weather to the basic infrastructure in the agricultural sector, including water and soil conservation works and public and private irrigated perimetres.

Members of the delegation also took note of the interventions of the Regional Commission for Disaster Reduction in rescuing citizens.
