The National Defence Ministry denied in a statement Wednesday any participation of the national Navy in the naval exercise of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) “Sea Breeze 21”, scheduled for June 28-July 10 in the Black Sea.
The Ministry was reacting to media reports indicating the national navy would participate alongside the Israeli army in a NATO naval exercise in the Black Sea.
Earlier in the day, MP and secretary general of Echaab movement Zouhaier Maghzaoui said an Israeli newspaper and an international news agency reported news about the US Sixth Fleet, according to which Tunisia would participate with Israel and 30 other states in large-scale international military exercises in the Black Sea, starting June 28.
Maghzaoui called on the President of the Republic and the Minister of National Defence to confirm or deny this information.
Secretary General of Al-Joumhouri party Issam Chebbi, for his part, considered in a letter to President Kais Saied sent Wednesday, that “mentioning Tunisia’s name in military naval exercises alongside the Zionist enemy requires an official response from the Tunisian authorities.”
