Ministry of Education, INLUCC sign agreement to strengthen fight against corruption

Acting Minister of Education Slim Khalbous and President of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC) Chawki Tabib held a ceremony on Thursday to sign a partnership and co-operation agreement aimed at strengthening consultation and coordination between the two parties with a view to combating corruption, in accordance with the procedures in force.

Speaking to reporters, the president of INLUCC said the agreement, which is part of the national anti-corruption strategy, provides for better coordination between the two parties in handling of certain files or cases of suspected corruption within institutions under the Ministry of Education.

Tabib said the document includes asking officials from the Ministry of Education to come up with ideas and suggestions for amending and developing certain anti-corruption legislation.

He said it was necessary to create a new anti-corruption mechanism called “Models of Integrity”.

The principle, he explained, is to submit one or more establishments under the Ministry of Education to an upgrading programme to make it a model to follow.

The Minister of Education said the fight against corruption in the medium and long term will be possible only with the participation of the school in this battle.
