Ministry of Youth and Sports supports organisation of Afrobasket-2017 in Tunisia

The Ministry of Youth and Sports affirmed its support to the organisation of the Afrobasket-2017 in Tunisia, September 8-16, jointly with Senegal.

During a meeting, held Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters with President of the Tunisian Basketball Federation (FTBB) Ali Benzarti, to review the organisation of the Afrobasket 2017′ with Senegal, Minister of Youth and Sports Majdoline Cherni expressed her ministry’s commitment to support the organisation of this tournament in co-ordination with the Finance Ministry so as to ensure the necessary financial means.

She further reiterated her support to the FTBB’s activities and to the preparation programme of different categories ahead of the upcoming events.

FIBA Africa had attributed the organisation of the Afrobasket 2017 to Tunisia and Senegal.

Each country will host two groups of four teams each in the first round while the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be held in Tunisia.

In addition to Tunisia, 15 other African teams will participate in Afrobasket 2017. They are: Angola, South Africa, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, DR Congo, Rwanda and Senegal.
