Minister of National Defence Brahim Bertégi said Friday a mobile team in charge of COVID-19 vaccination will soon be deployed in interior regions to vaccinate the population and raise awareness of the importance of vaccines.

Chairing the meeting of the local committee to combat coronavirus in Gabes, the Minister stressed the importance of creating more vaccination centers in the region.

“The military health can assist in the installation of a field hospital in the premises of the International Fair of Gabes,” he said.

Earlier, the minister followed the vaccination operation carried out at the Youth Centre in Gabes and learned about efforts to fight the pandemic at the university hospital of Gabes and the military hospital in the region.

The Minister listened to the concerns of some executives of the governorate of Gabes who deplored “the policy of procrastination adopted by the government towards the region and its inhabitants.

They criticised the failure to implement measures and projects agreed, including that of the new university hospital and the integrated industrial and ecological city.

They stressed the need to develop the health sector which “suffers from real deficiencies” in infrastructure and human resources, especially in terms of specialty medicine.
