The Defence Ministry calls on medics and paramedics, including those in the biomedical speciality (girls and boys), who have not exceeded the legal age for national service (35 years) and who graduated in the last three years (2018, 2019, 2020) “to honour the call of the homeland and participate in the effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus.”
A participation that is part of the national service performance apart from the armed forces units, explains Tuesday the National Defence Ministry in a statement.
Those who meet the conditions mentioned above, should apply, from July 14, to the regional centres of conscription and mobilisation or in one of the regional offices under these centres, says the statement.
They should carry a national identity card and a copy of the diploma for the completion of the conscription procedures and submit them to the Health Ministry to be assigned to the medical units closest to their places of residence and according to needs.
The Ministry said that this call is part of “the exceptional situation that the country is undergoing as it is at war with the coronavirus.”
It is also part, the ministry added, “in implementation of the decision of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to mobilise all material and human resources to contain the pandemic, increase vaccination, take care of infected persons in all regions of the country and support health facilities.
He indicated that the persons concerned by this measure will benefit from the advantages related to the conditions of recruitment in the public sector and from a specific allowance granted to those enrolled in the national service with the Health Ministry, in compliance with the legislation in force and the joint decision between the Ministers of Defence, Finance and Health, dated September 29, 2010.
