MoH calls for respecting barrier gestures to avoid new COVID-19 wave

Health Minister Ali Mrabet called on Tuesday to keep on respecting “barrier gestures” including face-masks wearing in public spaces and meeting venues so as to avoid a new COVID-19 wave.

Speaking at the opening of a workshop on “the draft regulatory text on the reduction and elimination of some pollutants in paint in Tunisia,” Mrabet said that it is necessary to return to health protocols and to pursue vaccination, welcoming the vaccination efforts exerted in Tunisia, which have so far brought the number of vaccinated people to 5 million.

The scientific committee to combat the coronavirus will convene later on Tuesday to stress the importance of a 3rd dose for people over 40 years old, indicated the minister, referring to the high contamination rate and the explosion in the number of infections in Europe, which has prompted many countries to impose new health restrictions.

Tunisia logged only 36 infections on November 21 from 1,490 tests (2.42% infection rate), he recalled.
