In a statement, the National Police (DSGN) said that the arrest of this foreign citizen is part of the strengthening of security control measures at national borders and relations of international security cooperation to monitor and apprehend people involved in various forms of transnational crime.

According to the international arrest warrant, the suspect is involved in a case of seizure by Benin security authorities of 145 kilograms of cocaine last May in a container coming from a port in Latin America, the DGSN explained.

The suspect was placed in custody, pending referral to the competent prosecutor’s office, while the National Central Bureau under the DGSN (Interpol office in Rabat) was responsible for informing its Beninese counterpart of the arrest to extradite the suspect, the statement concluded.
