Monastir: New committee for integrated management of coastal areas to preserve ecosystems created

Governor of Monastir, Mondher Ben Sik Ali announced, Friday, the creation of a Regional Committee of Integrated Coastal Zone Management for the preservation of the Gulf of Monastir ecosystems.

During an information day on the Protocol of Integrated Coastal Zone Management of the Mediterranean (ICZM), organized Friday in Monastir, the governor explained that this committee will be tasked with developing a strategy for rational and sustainable behaviour in the Gulf of Monastir.

The committee’s missions consist in strengthening local capacities for the improvement of governance, with a view to sustainable management of the Gulf of Monastir, and this, within the framework of a collegial action between the various stakeholders, in particular, the association “Our Big Blue”.

On this occasion, the governor of the region underlined the importance of the environmental field on the scale of priorities of the authorities, recalling the ratification by Tunisia of the protocol (ICZM) on November 29, 2022.
