MoU for implementation of Digital Justice Agenda inked

A memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the digital justice programme was signed Friday evening by Justice Ministers Ghazi Jeribi and Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy Anouar Maarouf.

This protocol aims to set up a global computer system reserved for justice in Tunisia and based on integrated computer applications to improve the functioning of this public service.

The digital justice programme is based on three major themes. First, access to information and law through the installation of a computer system developed, secondly the digitisation of judgments rendered and records and their archiving electronically and thirdly the establishment of an integrated administrative network for the rapid dispatch of data to all courts and institutions under the Ministry of Justice.

The 2017/2020 programme includes 52 projects with a total value estimated at 62 million dinars.

On this occasion, the Minister of Justice emphasised the importance of this programme which aims to modernise and improve the quality of services rendered to litigants.

This programme, he said, will contribute to greater transparency of services and increase citizens’ trust in the judiciary.

Jeribi also said that the technical services have already started the execution of certain programmes, including the generalisation of the project of digitisation of judgments and notaries’ registers in 7 courts of appeal and 17 courts of first instance and the digitisation of 17 million sheets out of a total of 30 million.

The technical services have also set up a computer system reserved for criminal and civil matters, the operation of which will enter into force in the second half of 2018 in twelve courts. They have also begun the development of a computer programme for land justice.

For his part, the Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy has reaffirmed the commitment of his department to make the programme of digitization of justice succeed by making available to the Ministry of Justice all means and technical skills required.
