Lhasa: Almost 1,000 people are stranded on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest following a snowstorm, according to Chinese state media. The individuals are said to be in mountain camps at an altitude of approximately 4,900 metres.
According to Ghana News Agency, their tents have reportedly suffered partial damage due to the storm, and access roads are blocked by heavy snow. A rescue operation is currently underway. The state news platform Jimu news reported that there have been casualties on site, although there is no confirmed information regarding possible fatalities.
