Mourakiboun Network launches new project “supporting citizen participation in local elections”

The Mourakiboun Network on Thursday announced the launch of a new programme to promote the participation of citizens in local elections.

Under the motto “supporting citizens’ Participation in Local Elections”, this programme aims to be closer to the citizens to enquire about their concerns and aspirations to make them aware of the importance of the participation in political life, particularly in terms of electoral deadlines, the network’s general coordinator, Rafik Halouani, said at a press briefing.

The programme also provides the opportunity to explain to them the new provisions of the organic law on elections and referendums and to encourage them to participate massively in the next municipalities, he added.

Supported by the organisation “Democracy International” and “Web Radar”, this programme provides for the launch of a platform called “Tunisia elections”, he announced.

This platform, he explained, will gather all the data that could help to understand the electoral reality and the specificity of the local elections in Tunisia.

The Network “Mourakiboun had a similar experience in previous elections. Its digital map and its website “Tunisia Election Data” helped to provide a complete database on previous elections.
