MTN Ghana Reinforces Anti-Bribery Commitment Through Ethics Podcast

SUNYANI: MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its dedication to ethical business practices by celebrating Global Ethics Day with a podcast conversation focused on anti-bribery and corruption. The event aligned with the global theme "Ethics Empowered" and highlighted the company's local commitment under the theme "Heightening Anti-Bribery and Corruption Practices." According to Ghana News Agency, a statement from MTN Ghana emphasized the company's comprehensive training and awareness programs aimed at preventing bribery and corruption. The statement, signed by Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, and Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Corporate Communications Senior Manager, noted that the event was held in Accra. The podcast is part of MTN's ongoing efforts to raise awareness about its anti-bribery and corruption policy. Joseph Dogbe, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for MTN Ghana, underscored the focus on anti-bribery and corruption as a critical risk area. Dogbe stated that the company is committed to promoting business ethics to ensure its sustainability and growth, reaffirming MTN's dedication to ethics, integrity, transparency, and accountability. Panelists from MTN Ghana and MobileMoney Limited discussed various processes, systems, and technologies utilized to prevent bribery and corruption. They also elaborated on the company's consequence management processes, which detail the actions MTN would take in response to incidents of bribery and corruption, highlighting the company's zero-tolerance stance on unethical behavior. The panelists stressed the importance of MTN Ghana's values and ethical principles in safeguarding the company's sustainability and protecting stakeholder interests. They also emphasized the role these values play in enabling staff to positively influence society at large. Participants were encouraged to report unethical behavior via MTN's anonymous whistleblowing channel and to seek guidance from the Ethics Office when encountering ethical dilemmas. MTN Ghana's commi tment to upholding ethics and integrity in business practices is evident. In 2023, the company organized activities focused on combating harassment and discrimination, while in 2022, the emphasis was on fraud prevention.
