Municipal elections 2018: organisation I Watch denounces weakness of ISIE

The organization I Watch, on Saturday, denounced the weakness and poor performance of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE) in the municipal polls held on May 6.

During a meeting with representatives of the civil society to shed light on the irregularities found during this election, Morched Mdini, head of organisation I Watch reported the decline in the performance of the electoral commission, in comparison with the 2014 elections.

Deployed on 6 May 2018 in 100 polling centres and stations, the 625 observers mobilised by the Organisation have identified several offences committed by the ISIE and members of the polling centres and stations on the one hand and representatives of candidate lists on the other hand, he said after a meeting with the partners of the organisation.

He added that several offences identified by the I Watch organization are linked to the performance of members of the polling centres and stations, the ISIE and its regional chapters, while others are attributed to the other actors directly linked to the electoral process.
