Municipal elections: Ennahdha’s Ghannouchi urges observance of fair competition rules

Ennahdha’s Rached Ghannouchi urged municipal election candidates to abide by rules of fair competition and break with smear campaigns aimed to sow discord.

He Sunday told an election rally in Jendouba there is need to preserve Tunisia’s gains and work to make of the Revolution “one of economic growth and development.”

Consensus is crucial for a nascent democracy, President of Ennahdha said. Municipal elections is the most important link on the pathway to a real democracy.

Ghannouchi told TAP his party intends to work in concert with Nidaa Tounes to manage local affairs after municipal elections. Consensus and power-sharing guarantee stability, he further said.

The rally was attended by party supporters as well as presidents and members of the fourteen candidate lists in the constituency of Jendouba.
