Municipal Poll 2018: municipal by-elections of Mdhilla scheduled for May 27, 2018 (ISIE President)

Mohamed Tlili Mansri, president of the Independent Higher Authority for the Election (ISIE) announced Tuesday that the ISIE council has agreed to organise the municipal by-elections of Mdhilla (governorate of Gafsa) on May 27, 2018.

The vote was suspended on May 6 in the district of Mdhilla after the erroneous routing of ballots for 12 lists instead of 9 candidate lists in this municipality.

The ISIE council must decide the issue next Saturday and endorse this date for the organisation of municipal by-elections of Mdhilla, said the ISIE president to TAP correspondent in Gafsa. The council must also examine the procedures for organising these elections, possibly the possibility for the candidate lists to campaign and observe an electoral silence.

The board must also consider changes to the ballots and the possibility of changing the presidents of polling centres and their members.

Some 8,890 voters are registered in the district of Mdhilla. They will have to elect 18 councilors in this constituency.

Nine lists are running in this constituency including three partisans (Ennahdha, Nidaa Tounes and the Green Party for Progress), five independent lists and a coalition list (Popular Front).
