Municipal polls 2018: vote counting and announcement of preliminary results after closing of polling stations (ISIE)

The counting of votes and the announcement of the preliminary results of the municipal elections will take place just after the closing of the polling stations, president of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE) Mohamed Tlili Mnasri said on Thursday.

“The announcement of the preliminary results will continue until May 9,” he said at the opening of the ISIE’s Media Centre at the Convention Centre in Tunis.

“The counting of the ballots will take place in 27 centres, spread throughout the territory,” he said.

Mnasri also said that the number of local and foreign observers deployed across the country has exceeded 6 thousand, adding that this number could increase significantly as the election commission continues to receive applications for accreditation.

Mnasri recalled that the polling stations in the border areas will close at 16:00 instead of 18:00.
