Muslims Encouraged to Uphold Ramadan Principles for Spiritual Growth


Agona Oketsew: The Agona East District Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Jabiru, has reiterated calls on Muslims to uphold the tenets of Islam and the principles of Ramadan to ensure spiritual growth, peace, and stability.



According to Ghana News Agency, the District Chief Imam emphasized the importance of the mandatory 30 days of fasting and prayers, urging Muslims to seek forgiveness for their iniquities and transgressions.



Alhaji Jabiru addressed the gathering during the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration in the Agona East District of the Central region. He called on Muslims to lead exemplary lives and abstain from actions that could tarnish the image of Islam. Although Ramadan has concluded, he stressed the importance of continuing to uphold Islamic teachings.



The District Chief Imam highlighted that the Prophet Mohammed instituted Ramadan to help Muslims develop spiritual maturity and resilience against negative influences. He expressed hope that Muslims would continue to demonstrate true Islamic character and avoid fraudulent activities that could damage the reputation of the Islamic community.



Alhaji Jabiru also addressed the issue of drug abuse, specifically cautioning the youth against substances like ‘RED and trapadoid’, which pose significant health risks. He encouraged the youth to focus their energy on positive pursuits and avoid drug abuse to become responsible members of society.



He urged young Muslims to pursue education with determination, noting that President Mahama’s government was open to appointing qualified Muslim youth to national positions. The Imam also emphasized the responsibility of parents to invest in their children’s education, warning that failing to do so would be judged by Allah according to Islamic principles.



Alhaji Jabiru advised young Muslim girls to avoid immoral behavior and instead focus on their studies and acquiring vocational skills, enabling them to become responsible women in society.
