The national plan of gender and climate change were at heart of an online meeting Monday between Minister of Family, Women, Children and Seniors Affairs Amel Belhaj Moussa and representatives of national and regional associations and organisations active in the sector of environment and sustainable development.
The minister noted that her department has completed mapping out the various fundamental points and orientations of the national gender and climate change plan, in association with the Environment Ministry, the Ministry said in a statement.
The plan is being developed with the participation of experts in the field and specialised executives in the two ministries, she added, saying that this meeting takes place under a participatory approach with civil society.
The minister called to integrate the social dimension and the sociological approach in dealing with the issue of climate change, given the impact of this phenomenon on vulnerable groups, especially women.
Representatives of organisations and associations welcomed the participatory approach adopted by the Ministry and its importance in identifying the impact of climate change on rural women, who are the most vulnerable group.
They called to strengthen partnership with civil society in the implementation of the national plan and its sectoral action programmes at the local and regional levels, with a view to bolstering decentralisation.
