National Guard Honors 11th Anniversary of Sidi Ali Ben Aoun Terrorist Attack

SIDI BOUZID: The National Guard commemorated the 11th anniversary of the Sidi Ali Ben Aoun terrorist attack, honoring the memory of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The solemn remembrance recognized the sacrifices of Colonel Major Imed Hizi, Colonel Major Socrate Cherni, Lieutenant Colonel Tahar Chebbi, Commander Anis Salhi, Captain Mohamed Marzouki, and Lieutenant Ridha Mnasri, who were martyred in the attack. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the commemoration also marked the 10th anniversary of the Chebbaou events in Manouba, where Lieutenant Achraf Ben Aziza fell as a martyr during a confrontation with terrorists. The National Guard is observing these anniversaries across its various districts, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to combating terrorism in honor of their fallen colleagues. The attack on October 23, 2013, resulted in the deaths of six elite National Guard officers and injuries to five others during a shootout with a terrorist group in Sidi Ali Ben Aoun. The operation thwarted the terrorists' plans to target multiple institutions in Sidi Bouzid, highlighting the National Guard's role in safeguarding national security.
