ACCRA: The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced a new initiative to provide employability training to its personnel during their service period, in collaboration with various institutions. This development follows the passage of the National Service Authority Bill, 2024, by Parliament in July, aimed at enhancing institutional capacity building and improving performance. According to Ghana News Agency, Nee Odoi Tetteyfio, the Board Chair of the NSA, unveiled the initiative at an event in Accra themed "The Dawn of a New Era." The new status is designed to foster partnerships and synergies that will contribute to the country's overall development. The Authority plans to implement a formalized mentoring and coaching program, along with a customized learning program, to increase efficiency. Tetteyfio highlighted the NSA's intention to collaborate with relevant institutions to assist National Service Personnel in developing project proposals that could attract angel investments. The Authority will also seek funding for viable projects conceived by personnel during their service. Additionally, the NSA plans to partner with local and international organizations to expand programs in farming, metal fabrication, ICT, and pedagogy training. Further enhancements include capacity building for staff, operational reviews, and system restructuring to improve service delivery. The NSA has also advanced collaborations with the Public Services Commission and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to develop a service scheme and conditions of service for staff, aiming to enhance remuneration and align operations with public sector standards.
