National Theatre Collaborates with German Theatre Group to Promote Cultural Exchange

Accra: Management of the National Theatre of Ghana has strengthened ties with a German Theatre Group to promote cultural exchange programmes. The exchange programmes aim at enhancing artistic development and cross-cultural learning between Ghanaian and German theatre practitioners.

According to Ghana News Agency, the engagement served as an opportunity for both parties to introduce themselves, discuss the framework for future collaborations, and outline plans for joint theatre workshops, performance exchanges, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Mr. Henry Herbert Malm, Acting Executive Director of the National Theatre, commended the initiative and applauded the team that worked tirelessly to bring the project to fruition. He stated that such partnerships would contribute significantly to the Theatre’s mandate of promoting the performing arts and strengthening international cultural ties.

As part of the collaboration, the German group, made up of theatre freelancers, will present a donation of theatre equipment to the National Theatre to support its technical and production capacities. The German delegation, led by Mr. Roger Georges, IRMAN, Light/Technical Designer, expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by the National Theatre. He mentioned their excitement about the opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with Ghanaian artists, adding that their commitment to supporting the Theatre’s vision of cultural preservation and innovation was resolute.

The partnership is expected to pave the way for future joint productions and skills development programmes, reinforcing the National Theatre’s position as a hub for international artistic collaboration and cultural diplomacy.
