Accra: The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), operating under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, is poised to host the National Tourism Awards on October 25, 2024, at the historic Osu Castle. The event, themed 'Celebrating innovation and recognizing excellence in Ghana's tourism sector,' is designed to honor top achievers across various categories within the tourism industry. According to Ghana News Agency, the awards ceremony will see the distribution of 38 accolades, including 29 competitive awards, seven honorary awards, and two special mentions. These awards are intended to spotlight exceptional service in accommodation, catering, travel, media, events, and corporate organizations, alongside special honors for outstanding contributions to the sector. Initiated in 1997, the National Tourism Awards serve as a benchmark for excellence, aiming to elevate service standards and foster healthy competition among businesses in the tourism sector. The event also emphasizes tourism's role as a key economic dr iver and aims to bolster Ghana's reputation as a leading travel destination. The ceremony is expected to draw around 350 attendees, comprising seasoned professionals from across the tourism value chain, including hotels, travel agencies, and car rental companies. The guest list also includes Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Community, as well as heads of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, highlighting the event's importance in the national agenda.
