National Tourism Awards to Honor Excellence in Ghana’s Tourism Sector

Accra: The Ghana Tourism Authority, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, is set to host the National Tourism Awards on October 25, 2024, at Osu Castle. The event, themed "Celebrating innovation and recognizing excellence in Ghana's tourism sector," aims to honor individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the tourism industry. According to Ghana News Agency, the awards will recognize excellence and encourage a robust recovery of Ghana's tourism sector. A total of 38 awards will be distributed, including 29 competitive awards, seven honorary awards, and two special mention awards. Categories for the competitive awards include accommodation, catering, travel services, media, events, and corporate organizations of the year. The honorary awards will focus on special recognition for exceptional contributions to the tourism industry. Established in 1997, the National Tourism Awards seek to acknowledge and reward industry stakeholders who have significantly contributed to Ghan a's tourism development. The awards aim to promote high standards in service delivery, foster healthy competition, and amplify tourism's role as a dynamic economic sector, positioning Ghana as a leading tourist destination. The event is expected to attract approximately 350 guests, including key figures from the tourism value chain such as hotels, travel and tour agencies, and car rental services. Dignitaries such as Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, the Diplomatic Community, and leaders from Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and the Business Community have also been invited to attend.
