The Council of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), during its meeting on Friday, announced that the number of people enlisted in the electoral register and eligible to vote in the referendum of July 25, 2022 reached 6,940,579 voters, according to the last update of the register carried out by the Authority in December 2021.
The number of registered voters during the last expanded voter registration operation of 2019 was around 7,740,000. However, the number of those registered in the electoral register established on December 31, 2021 is 7,700,000 voters, after subtracting the number of deceased.
This number will fall to 7 million after subtracting the security and military who are not concerned by the referendum.
The new members of the ISIE were sworn in on May 9 before President Kais Saied at the Carthage Palace, after presidential decree No. 459 appointing the members of the ISIE was published in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT).
