Atebubu: Sheikh Osman Imam Husseim Saani, recently appointed as the Atebubu Municipal Chief Imam in Ghana’s Bono East Region, has called on the government to resolve the area’s ongoing water supply issues. The new Chief Imam emphasized the impact of the water scarcity on residents, some of whom are compelled to share streams with stray animals, during an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at his induction ceremony in Atebubu.
According to Ghana News Agency, Sheikh Saani has succeeded his late father, Chief Sheikh Iman Abdul-Barki, who passed away after a brief illness. The induction ceremony, which was a vibrant affair, also served as a moment for the final prayers (Adua) for the late Abdul-Barki. It saw attendees from various walks of life, including chief Imams from different districts and municipalities, as well as notable figures such as Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Sanja Nanja, the Member of Parliament for Atebubu/Amantin constituency, and Mr. Thomas Masud Ayarba, the Amantin Municipal Chief Executive.
Sheikh Saani expressed the commitment of the Atebubu Zongo communities to aid the government’s development efforts in the region. He stressed the importance of peace and social cohesion as fundamental requirements and appealed for unity and peaceful co-existence among different religious and ethnic groups to maintain and strengthen the area’s existing peace, thereby fostering development.
Additionally, Sheikh Saani underscored the importance of education for national development and encouraged Muslim families to invest in their children’s education.
