New Model of Industrial Zones is Very Attractive to Private Sector (Official)

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the project to extend the industrial zone of Bouznika, called “Bouznika Park Industries”, the Minister stressed that this new generation requires a high standard of quality in terms of services, respect for the environment and enhancement of public-private partnership.

Mezzour noted that the inauguration of this zone carries an important symbolism, since it is the result of cooperation between the United States and Morocco, under the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) for the implementation of industrial zones of new generation.

This project, he continued, has introduced innovative ways of working in industrial zones that will serve as a model, adding that the new zone of Bouznika, like the other two which are part of the program, obey these rules and will allow the development of other industrial zones of new generation, within the framework of this public-private partnership.

For her part, the Senior Assistant Vice President at Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Kyeh Kima said that the inauguration of this zone marks an important step in the partnership between MCC and the Moroccan government.

It is designed to stimulate economic growth and private sector investment in Morocco, she said, noting that this new zone developed under the “Compact II” will serve as a model for the creation of other areas in the country.

The Director General of the MCA-Morocco Agency, Malika Laasri said that the launch of the extension of the industrial zone of Bouznika celebrates the culmination of a laborious work of various stakeholders who worked for months to implement this important project.

She also estimated that 75 million dollars will be generated by new investments in this new zone, which would eventually create 4,000 jobs.

In addition, Laasri stressed that the activity of industrial land under the Compact II aims to create a new model for the development of industrial zones in Morocco, based on public-private partnerships and international standards, to attract major investors, create jobs and catalyze economic growth in the country.

The project has been the subject of an agreement covering the development, marketing and management of this industrial zone according to a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. It covers a gross area of 25 hectares mobilized by the State and connected to the various off-site networks developed by the Millennium Challenge Account-Morocco (MCA-Morocco).
