New round of DCFTA negotiations scheduled in two weeks

New round of negotiations between Tunisia and the European Union (EU) on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) is scheduled in two weeks in Tunis, said Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in Tunis Sophie Vanhaeverbeke.

The new round that will take place the week of April 23, will be preceded by holding on April 16 of a meeting with the civil society.

The agenda of the new round of negotiations has not yet been decided according to a Tunisian source close to this issue. However, an inter-sessional meeting was held in January 2018 to discuss technical issues related to synergy and mobility issues.

The harmonisation of Tunisian services with European standards is at the focus of the negotiations on the DCFTA, the 1st round of which was held on April 18-21, 2016.

Since November 2012, Tunisia has enjoyed the status of a privileged partner of the EU, its 1st trade and economic partner.
