“The opening of this new stage in relations between Spain and Morocco, two neighboring countries united by historical ties, is to be welcomed as excellent news,” said Rodriguez in an interview with the daily “La Razon”, published Sunday.
This new stage “guarantees the necessary stability (…) and will bring us certainty, both politically and in terms of its positive effects on trade between Spain and Morocco,” said the Spanish official.
“We have made mutual commitments and we have fulfilled them: among them, the absence of unilateral actions and the maintenance of a fluid and frank communication to continue strengthening the management of migration flows. The key will be cooperation,” she explained.
While reiterating her country’s position on the Moroccan Sahara issue, Rodriguez noted that the agreement between the two countries “can serve as a model,” especially in this turbulent period marked by the Ukrainian crisis.
