Kumasi: Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, has reaffirmed the New Patriotic Party's commitment to supporting female traders through the establishment of a special fund. This initiative will provide soft loans without collateral to women entrepreneurs, aimed at fostering economic inclusion and reducing poverty among women in Ghana. According to Ghana News Agency, the announcement came during the inauguration of the rehabilitated sections of the Race Course market in Kumasi, which had previously suffered significant damage due to a fire. The fire destroyed large quantities of merchandise, impacting many local traders. Madam Frema Osei highlighted the NPP Flag-bearer's promise of establishing the Women's Trade Empowerment Fund, which will offer both loans and grants to help women, particularly those in the small and medium-scale sectors, expand and grow their businesses. The initiative is designed to remove barriers that currently impede women's access to credit and o ther financial resources, thereby changing the face of women-owned businesses in the region. The Chief of Staff also noted her role in spearheading the reconstruction of parts of the market affected by the fire and improving market infrastructure to enhance business activities. Nana Akosua Kyeiwaa, Queen Mother of Race Course traders, commended the Chief of Staff for her efforts in rehabilitating and upgrading the market, noting the positive impact on the business activities of the traders.
