Occitania wants to export its know-how in aeronautics in Tunisia

Occitania wants to export its know-how in aeronautics in Tunisia, said Thursday president of the Regional Council of Occitania, Carole Delga, on working visit to Tunis from May 9 to 11.

The second largest region in metropolitan France, Occitania has a much larger territory than thirteen countries in the European Union. Very attractive and with strong demographic and economic growth, the region has 13 departments. Its chief town is Toulouse.

“The region ranks first in Europe in aerospace, with 86,000 jobs and 800 supplier companies and subcontractors,” Delga said in a statement to TAP.

For her, Occitania benefits greatly from the economic spin-offs of the aerospace industry, whose activities are mainly focused on Toulouse.

Delga, who visited the aeronautical area of El-Mghira in the governorate of Ben Arous this morning, said that the Tunisian aeronautics sector occupies an important place in the Mediterranean chain.

“The Tunisian aerospace industry is high added value,” she said, adding that the activities cover all crafts dedicated to aeronautics.

They range from design and engineering services to aeronautical maintenance, including bar turning, wiring, manufacturing and surface treatment.

“From an economic point of view, we really have interests in common with Tunisia,” she went on saying, ensuring that concrete partnerships will be concluded in the agri-food, renewable energy, port development and tourism sectors. the social and solidarity economy.

On the second day of her visit to Tunisia, the president of the Occitania region had a series of meetings with several members of the government as well as with Occitania’s business leaders based in Tunisia.
