KUMBUNGU: The Kumbungu L/A Primary School Old Students' Association celebrated the 75th anniversary of the school's establishment, highlighting its development and contributions to the community. The event featured a quiz competition and a football match, with awards presented to winners and outstanding students. Notable figures such as Alhaji Naa Abu Iddrisu (II), Paramount Chief of Kumbungu Traditional Area, and Mr. Abdullah Salifu, school pioneers, were also honored. According to Ghana News Agency, Alhaji Mohammed Haroun, former Northern Regional Director of Education, addressed attendees, urging the government to enhance educational infrastructure and resources, reducing dependency on alumni and philanthropists. He encouraged students to be inspired by the school's pioneers. Mr. Yahaya Sulemana, Kumbungu District Director of Education, expressed satisfaction with the school's expansion from a modest space to a comprehensive complex, noting its pivotal role in the district's educational landscape. He rep orted a growth from 17 pupils to over 33,000 students, with the school serving as a foundation for numerous educational institutions in the area. The Old Students' Association was praised for its contributions to quality education. Mr. Sulemana Yakubu, Chairman of the Old Students' Association, emphasized the group's commitment to supporting the school's development and fostering unity among past and present students. Mr. Abdullah Salifu, a founding member of the association, reminisced about the school's early days, recalling the humble beginnings with 17 pupils and a simple curriculum. He noted the unique identification of students by their village names, reflecting the community's cultural heritage.
