One Arrested Following Armed Robbery at Gold Buying Shops in Mpohor District

Takoradi: A group of armed men launched a robbery attack in the Mpohor District of Takoradi in the Western Region, leaving one person injured.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Ghana Police Service reported receiving information on August 17, 2025, at approximately 1930 hours, about a group of masked armed men wielding pump-action guns. The group, comprising about nine individuals, invaded two gold buying shops in the area.

The police indicated that the armed men robbed the occupants of the shops of an unspecified amount of money and quantity of gold. During the incident, they shot a 43-year-old man, Eric Kwofie, and then fled into a nearby bush.

The police have since arrested one person in connection with the robbery and are making efforts to apprehend other accomplices involved in the crime.
